Tour Dates: May 17 to May 26, 2019
The Renaissance began in Tuscany and was centered in the city of Florence. It was a period of outstanding artistic and cultural rebirth that was born at the end of the 14th century and swept across Europe over the next 300 years. The Renaissance spread to Venice, heart of a Mediterranean empire which held control of the trade routes with the east as well as other major cities such as Milan and Rome. The Renaissance also saw the rise of the Christian humanism movement which revived interest in humanity within the Christian faith. The movement impacted art, changed the focus of religious scholarship, shaped personal spirituality and may have also influenced the discussion leading to the Reformation.
