WHAT IS THE SAVOUR ITALY TRAVEL EXPERIENCE LIKE?

The Savour Italy Travel experience is all about discovering every aspect of the Italian life and the Bel Paese. Your tour will focus on wine, food and cultural immersion while making connections along the way—either through chatting with locals or sharing experiences with your fellow travellers. It’s easy to relax and enjoy your trip with the support of our knowledgeable Tour Directors.

WHAT KIND OF HOTELS DO YOU USE?

Before we book a hotel for our travellers, our team visits it and inspects it from top to bottom. A hotel makes our short list only when it meets our standards for comfort, value, location and that little bit of flavour that can turn a stay into something unique. All hotel taxes and city taxes are included in the price of your tour. The list of final hotels selected will be available to you approximately 30 days before your departure.

I HAVE SPECIAL MEAL REQUIREMENTS. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE ME WHEN I AM ON A TOUR?

Definitely! This is very common request. Just notify us of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking and we’ll make sure that your Tour Director is made aware of your needs and can provide options for you.

DOES SAVOUR ITALY TRAVEL ACCOMMODATE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED TRAVELLERS?

We want everyone to be able to explore Italy. We work with partners specialized is accessible travel who design wonderful itineraries with that in mind. Give us a call and talk to Antonio about any physical disabilities or limitations and he can help you choose the best itinerary for you. If you require dedicated assistance, we ask that you plan to travel with a companion.

HOW MANY TRAVELLERS ARE ON A SAVOUR ITALY TRAVEL TOUR?

All groups range in size from 14 to 20 travellers. This offers many advantages: Drive through secondary roads in a private mini-coach that allows for an intimate experience with the local territory. Enjoy a meal at a communal table at a family winery or a small trattoria packed with local flavours. Fully immerse yourself in the Italian culture and language by listening closely to your Tour Director dealing with the locals... and so much more!

WHAT ABOUT DRESS CODE?

No particular dress code is required on our tours. We believe in packing light and travelling comfortably. For our group dinners, in the evenings, we advise "smart casual". A jacket for men is not required.

HOW MANY SEATS ARE ON YOUR PRIVATE BUSES? CAN I REQUEST SEAT ASSIGNMENTS?

The private buses we use for our tours have a seating capacity for between 25 and 29 people. (Keep in mind that a regular tourist bus size is 50 seats). Since our tours are less than 20 people, you will never feel crowded and you will have plenty of room for your luggage (and shopping bags!). We do not assign seats on the bus. In fact, in order to ensure that all travellers have the opportunity to fully enjoy the scenery during bus rides, we ask that our customers mix it up and rotate their seats daily.

DO YOUR PRIVATE BUSES HAVE AIR-CONDITIONING AND RESTROOMS?

Yes air conditioning. No restrooms. We stop every two hours on longer transfers to give everyone time for a bathroom break and to stretch their legs.

SHOULD I TIP THE TOUR DIRECTOR, BUS DRIVER AND LOCAL GUIDES?

All tips are included in your package, however it is customary to offer a cash gratuity to the bus driver. We recommend tipping the driver 2-3 Euro per person per day.

DOES SAVOUR ITALY TRAVEL ARRANGE TOUR EXTENSIONS?

Yes. Take advantage of our in-depth knowledge of Italy and ask us where to spend a few more days before or after the tour.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO COMBINE TWO OR MORE OF YOUR TOURS?

Yes. In addition to customizing your tour with our pre- and post-stay extensions, you can also combine multiple tours into one. One good example is the South Italy Tour that can be easily combined with the Sicily tour.

DOES SAVOUR ITALY TRAVEL ARRANGE FLIGHTS?

We do not arrange flights to and from Italy. Many of our clients like to use their travel points or their preferred travel agent. If you need assistance in booking your flight let us know and we will put you in touch with one of our partner travel agencies to help you find the best deal.
Moreover, by arranging your own flight you are free to select your arrival and departure dates and airports to suit your holiday plans. You’ll have the option to add a few days of independent travel to your tour to explore a new destination. Should you wish to add a few days of independent travel to your tour to explore a new destination, ask Antonio for some tips for the start or end points of your tour.

DOES SAVOUR ITALY TRAVEL ARRANGE TRANSFERS?

Yes. We cover the entire peninsula and can arrange private transfers from and to the airport, as well as between cities with stops and visits along the way!

WHEN SHOULD I MAKE MY RESERVATION? CAN SAVOUR ITALY TRAVEL HOLD A SPOT ON A TOUR FOR ME?

If you have your heart set on a certain tour at a certain time (and at its current price), we recommend you make your reservation as early as possible – nine to twelve months in advance is a good rule of thumb. We will hold a spot once the deposit is paid. You have 5 days to change your mind and be fully reimbursed. No deposit will be returned after 5 days.

WHAT IF THE TRIP I HAVE MY HEART SET ON IS SOLD OUT?

Just because a tour is sold out doesn’t mean there aren’t a few options for getting you onto the tour of your dreams. If we can make it happen, we will. Please call us. We will try to accommodate your request or let you know about newly added departure dates that might work with your schedule.

CAN I TRANSFER MY TOUR RESERVATION TO SOMEONE ELSE?

Yes, you can as long as there are no changes to the accommodation requirements.

DO I NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO ITALY?

Italy does not require U.S. or Canadian citizens to purchase an entry visa. Non-U.S. or non-Canadian citizens can check if a visa is required by visiting: vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en. Please let us know if you have any questions.

DO I NEED A PASSPORT TO GO TO ITALY?

Yes. Check your passport’s expiration date before you reserve your tour. It must be valid for 3 months beyond your return date. Source: vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en

Electricity: What Adapter And/Or Transformer Do I Need When We Are In Italy?

The current in Italy is 220V, 50Hz so you'll need to bring a transformer for standard 110V North American appliances. Plugs have two round pins (three if grounded). Chargers on modern electronic devices (cameras, phones, laptops,...) already support both 110V and 220V. Please check the fine print on your chargers. In this case you will only need a plastic adapter for the different Italian socket. Don't worry if you forget to bring one! These small plastic adapters can be purchased everywhere in Italian cities from an electrical supply store (elettricista) or at your nearest piazza's markets!
